Slated for Friday September 4, all is set for the 2015 edition of the Musician’s Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) Grand Ball. The event will be held as usual at the Banquet Hall, State House, in Accra Ghana. The MUSIGA Grand Ball is an annual fund raiser event which started in 2011 to support the development of the music industry in the county. From the maiden edition which targeted to help set up a MUSIGA Music Development Fund (MIDF), the event has been held annually and attended by music industry moguls and state officials. Each year, funds are
raised and committed to a specific project of the Musician’s Union of Ghana. Last year, the MUSIGA GRAND BALL raised an amount of GH ¢100,000.00 for MUSIGA’s Aging Musicians Welfare Fund (AMWeF) and the MUSIGA Academy.
This year’s Grand ball promises to be exceptional as it brings back on stage one of Ghana’s greatest musicians, Bob Pinodo. Known in his days as the ‘Show master of Africa’, Bob Pinodo rose to the pinnacle of his career with the ‘Show master of Africa’ album released by Essiebons in 1978. Bob is expected to bring back the memories of Disco Dance as he makes a come back to stage performance. In the last ten years, the Disco Dance hit maker has been a research tutor, directing the dance band department of Music Education at the University of Education in
Winneba. Asked the purpose of his come back to recording and stage performance, the show master of Africa said having taught music in the university for a decade he was back to demonstrate how Ghana could transform its economy with music.
