Nas Will Perform ‘Illmatic’ With The Detroit Symphony Orchestra On March 5th (@Nas @DetroitPistons @DetroitSymphony)

NasThe Detroit Pistons present 13-time Grammy Award Nominee Nas, joined by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, as a culmination of Detroit Pistons Black History Month festivities at Orchestra Hall on Tuesday March 5th at 7:30 PM.

One of the most influential and talented MCs to ever hold a mic, Nas will perform his debut album Illmatic in classical style, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the record. Proceeds from the event will benefit programs that stem from the Detroit Pistons partnership with the DSO and the annual Sphinx Competition, which provides new opportunities to young African-American and Latino string players and the communities and audiences they serve.

The Detroit Pistons and DSO have a multi-year partnership aimed to enhance music and education programming for Detroit youth. Financial commitments from Pistons owner Tom Gores, Vice Chairman Arn Tellem and the Detroit Pistons Foundation have expanded the DSOs Civic Youth Ensemble offerings for Detroit students.
