And the winner is… “I Am A Jamaican” by Buju Banton.
Since it was announced earlier in the year that several established artists have entered the 2020 Festival Song Competition, there were some opposition from persons who felt that the platform should be reserved for new or emerging talents. Those talks quickly disappeared once the masses heard all the songs.
The fact is that the more known artists did not assume that their name recognition would give them the prize. Instead, they contributed quality records that celebrated Jamaica and its people just as the younger talents did.
Fast forward to where we are now, at the end of July, and the public have decided that Buju Banton‘s “I Am A Jamaican” is the best among this year’s finalists.
