Recording artist Tommie Tei, who hails from the Banbury District in Linstead, Jamaica, has just released his brand new EP titled Win This Time. The six track project, which features one collaboration done with Kre The King, has been getting nothing but rave reviews. After having to overcome several challenges within the music industry, the positive feedback is confirmation to Tommie and his team that he is finally on the right track. The singer / songwriter, now living in the Cayman Islands, penned all the songs himself with the exception of Kre‘s verse on Jah a Guide.
Tommie Tei‘s expansive thought process is on full display throughout the EP, as he touches on various topics ranging from relationships to social issues. A couple songs that must be highlighted are: track number six, The One You Love; which is an advise to women about the importance of choosing the right man. When asked what inspired that particular song, Tei said: “I was motivated to write the one you love after seeing relationship keep having a sour ending, especially with women been victims of some serious crimes. So I see it necessary to put words in a song and ask the ladies to be more careful of relationship they get caught up in.”
The other record that is creating quite a buzz is the aforementioned combination done with fellow artist Kre The King, titled Jah a Guide. As this is the lead single on the EP, it was released in April, approximately three weeks before the full project was published. It has been getting, and continues to receive steady rotation and feature on reggae and dancehall platforms all over.
All songs on Win This Time were voiced at Shadow Recording Studio in the Cayman Islands, and production can be created to both Shadow Studio and Hippaside Records in Jamaica. The EP’s musical genre is rightfully classified as Caribbean-pop, a fuse of pop music blended with Jamaican reggae and dancehall.
