The latest release from reggae artist Ginjah, is a sonorous love song that legitimizes his nickname Reggae Soulman.
These Arms – a three and half minutes lovers-rock tune – was constructed by Kirk Bennett, Wrong Move and Ginjah. Kirk played the drums, Wrong Move composed all the other instruments and Ginjah penned the lyrics. Regarding his vocal performance: it is intense, impassioned and personal, hence the preceding pronouncement.
“My woman inspired this song, just wanted her to know that I’ll be there for her throughout life’s journey, keeping her safe & warm like the song said.” Explains Ginjah.
Although it was just released (on February 18, 2022), These Arms was actually recorded in 2013 at Young Veterans Studio. The timing of the release is due in part to Ginjah‘s relationship with Tad’s Record, the imprint responsible for getting the song out to the public.
In a lengthy statement outlining his connection with Tad’s Record, Ginjah said: “This partnership gonna be a force to be reckoned with. It’s going to be like nothing no one has ever seen before, we have a lot of beautiful songs coming for the reggae fans. I want to take this time out to big up Tad’s Record for their hard work over the years being one of the companies that’s pushing reggae music none stop. It’s also a good thing to have a Jamaican singer that’s working with a Jamaican company. Since most artiste now a days looking else where.”
When asked what he would like listeners to take away from These Arms, he said: “I honestly want the men to know that they must treat that special lady right. Like the song said protecting her and loving her should go hand in hand. Overall the song is a message of love.”
