Hezron‘s brand new album – M.O.A.M (Man On A Mission) – was released on August 19, 2022 via Tad’s Record Inc.
For months he and the team at Tad’s have been promising us this project. They consistently gave us hints as to what we could expect: Man On A Mission (the single), Tik Tok I’m Coming, Save The Children etc. With all the preceding tracks enjoying heavy rotations and chart placements everyone knew that the album would be good. However, now that it’s out, and the reviews are in, we are all blown away by just how good this body of work really is.
M.O.A.M (Man On A Mission) was recorded in Jamaica – the home of reggae music – and it features some of the greatest reggae musicians in the industry. Dean Fraser on saxophone, Kirk ‘Kirkle Dove’ Bennett on drums, Donald ‘Danny Bassie’ Dennis on bass, Mitchum Khan on guitar and Carol ‘Bowie’ McLaughlin and Robbie Lyn on keyboard. As for the lyrical content, it is inspiring, extensive and entertaining.
The release of the album was accompanied by the sharing of another one of its singles: Smile Today (track #10). A video showing Hezron and his band performing the song live – in an acoustic setting – was also shared.
According to Hezron: “M.O.A.M (Man on a Mission), in its truest sense, is a mission to bring back great Jamaican music and musicianship to the mainstream. It’s a reminder of where reggae is supposed to be in the world.” While Tad’s Record founder, Tad Dawkins, who is determined to see Jamaican reggae music restored to its former glory, added the following: “Hezron released his debut album The Life I Live(d) on Tad’s Record in 2015. His return to the label with M.O.A.M. unites two established Jamaican brands, each committed to proving that quality reggae with the potential for widespread global appeal is still being made in the music’s birthplace.”
