Jah Thomas – the father of trending vocalist Da’Ville – is a highly respected veteran artist and producer, who has over the years, produced for various Jamaican performers: Tristan Palma, Johnny Osbourne, Michael Palmer, Barry Brown, Barrington Levy, Sugar Minott, Early B, and many more. Although a lot of people may know him as an accomplished music creator, Thomas is equally esteemed as a deejay with an extensive discography. That said, four decades after his first single he continues to add to his catalogue.
His latest project is a twelve-track album titled Clarks a Clarks, released on January 13, 2023, by Tad’sRecord Inc. Every song on this LP mentally transports the listener back to a time ‘when dance did nice’. It’s refreshing. Thomas‘ toasting style sits well on the groovy reggae rhythms – which he produced – and his lyrics are witty, entertaining and honest.
Of the ten songs, there are five collaborations: Di Devil Control Dem (feat. Josey Wales), Get Inna Mi Car (feat. Peter Metro), Party Time (feat. Da’Ville), Ban Pon Di Gun and Buy Mi Roses (feat. Junior Moore). The other tracks are: Drunk n Stagga, Big Dance a Keep, Western Union Walk, Mamma Gone Too Soon, and the title track Clarks a Clarks. Thomas has high hopes for this project, stating: “Mi perform all over England, but never in (mainland) Europe. Wi want it reach di world but we’d a love touch Europe especially,”
Clarks a Clarks is available on Apple Music, Spotify, iTunes, Tidal and all other streaming platforms.
