The Bad Boys of Reggae – Inner Circle – and Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA), will, for the first time, present Reggae Month Miami. What this means is that throughout the entire month of February (which is also Black History Month) there will be lots of free live music, as well as opportunities to network and meet reggae performers. Jamaican artists, businesses, and entrepreneurs in both Miami-Dade and Broward County will be highlighted, and a major conference is also on the schedule.
As a part of Reggae Month Miami, Inner Circle will be releasing two singles to honor reggae legends Mykal Rose and Beres Hammond. Beres Hammond’s One Step Ahead, which pays tribute to authentic reggae music, will be released on February 10th. While Mykal Rose’s single, Reality, a track that showcases reggae roots and culture, will be shared later in the month.
In 2008 the Jamaican government officially declared February as Reggae Month. Since then the month’s activities have been organized by JaRIA, the Jamaican Recording Industry Organization, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport.
Bringing Reggae Month to Miami so that the South Florida community can join in the celebration and learn more about the reggae industry is important to Inner Circle. “We want to offer this platform for local reggae and regggaeton artists to entertain everyone who is interested in the culture and bring awareness to music and showcase traditions. We also wanted to offer an opportunity for networking every Wednesday as part of the festivities,” said Ian Lewis, co-founder of Inner Circle.
